2011 Meeting Objectives
The objective of the ACC Lake Louise meeting is to enhance clinicians knowledge through a combination of key presentations from recognized national and international opinion leaders combined with interactive case based discussion, question and answer periods, and knowledge translation workshops.
Specific topics/goals in 2010 include to:
- Understand the role of novel dosing of currently available antiplatelets and the potential clinical impact of new antiplatelet agents in the management of acute coronary syndromes.
- Evaluate the new therapeutic options for management of atrial fibrillation including reducing thrombotic complications with anticoagulant therapy.
- Review the latest guidelines in the treatment of congestive heart failure, lipoprotein disorders, acute coronary syndromes and hypertension.
- Understand the complex networks of care and critical care pathways in acute myocardial infarction and their importance to reduce treatment delay.
- Appreciate clinical-decision making in the treatment (medical and surgical) of chronic volume-overload lesions, especially mitral and aortic regurgitation.
- Discuss treatment options for stable angina incorporating recent trial results.
- Appreciate interrelationships between clinical research and good clinical practice and understand the grading of evidence and limitations of current guidelines.
- Discuss the management of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy including medical therapy, alcohol septal ablation, myectomy and the ICD.
Who Should Attend
Attendees often include cardiologists, including cardiovascular clinicians and investigators as well as cardiovascular & thoracic surgeons.
We also offer sessions for others with heart-related interests, including: internal medicine specialists, emergency medicine specialists, GPs, physician assistants, fellows-in-training, technologists, radiologists, nurses and pharmacists.

This event will be submitted as an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
